PRINCIPLE: MeteoFax32 is a weatherfax decoding system. It decodes the Radiofax, RTTY, Sitor and Navtex formats using a specially designed modem. This modem provides filtering and digital signal processing with optimal performance making it usable from SSB pocket radios to HF marine transceiver. Only a precise and sensitive modem makes it possible to obtain a worldwide coverage.

This modem has been designed for quality decoding even with poor radio propagation conditions. Tested worldwide on all types of boats, this modem has proven itself even in areas where reception is made difficult by the remoteness of stations as in the Indian Ocean where all other equipment show their limits. This modem provides analog then digital filtering as well as signal processing by a powerful processor that will process the signal and ensure communication with the software. This provides optimal performance even with a handheld receiver. Only an accurate and sensitive modem specifically designed for this type of signal ensures global coverage at sea. This modem is used to decode the Radiofax or Weatherfax, Rtty, Sitor and Navtex modes.

The modem control panel:
This control panel provides the following information: - Oscilloscope signal. - Spectral analysis of the signal. - Level input (BF) signal. - Instantaneous frequency of the signal. - Rejection rate of out of band below signals by digital filtering. - Rejection rate of out of band high signals by digital filtering. - Shift of the received signal (width modulation). - Tuning of the receiver on the signal. - Noise level of the signal. - Filling rate of the buffer. |

Connection of the modem :This modem must be connected: To the computer: - USB or RS232 socket. To the SSB receiver: - Headphone output or external loudspeaker output. To the power supply: - 12 volts (9 to 16 volts) 40 mA. |
System requirements:
- 1 PC or Mac Intel with Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 32 or 64 bits and a 500 MHz or more processor.
- 512 MB of memory or minimum required by the operating system (512 MB for XP, 1GB for Vista 7 8).
- 1 free RS232 port or 1 free USB port.
- 1 SSB receiver or transceiver with 0.1 kHz steep synthesizer capable of proper reception of the signal in the planned navigation area and equipped with a headphone or external loudspeaker jack. System compatible with remote receivers (eg Icom PCR 1500/2500).
- Accepted protocols : Weather Fax (radiofax), RTTY, SITOR, NAVTEX.
- Software and documentation language : English and French.
